Mr. David “Butch” Knight, Jr., passed away, Monday, February 5, 2018, at his residence. He was 68.
Mr. Knight was born on March 7, 1949. He was a son of the late David and Gladys Wise Knight. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. He enjoyed golfing, music, guitars, the South Carolina Gamecocks, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grandson. He was a member of several bands; Little Arthur and The Knights, The Coachman, Old Dog New Tricks, and the Fantastic Coachman. He earned his Associates Degree from Columbia Business College. After graduation his career started with Southern Bell. He started his law enforcement career for the S.C. Alcoholic Beverage Control Task Force. This lead to him to joining the S. C. Governor’s Task Force against Drugs, and the Federal Fugitive Task Force, both with SLED, where he eventually retired.
Mr. Knight is survived by his son, David Knight, III and wife Rhonda of Senioa, Ga.; brother Fred Knight and wife Kay of Bennettsville; grandson, Cameron Alexander Knight; 3 nephews, Harris, Joseph, and Jake Knight..
Mr. Knight was preceded in death by his parents listed above.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm, Thursday, February 8, 2018, at Christ United Methodist Church, with burial at Sunset Memorial Park. A visitation will be from 6-8 pm at Burroughs Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 7, 2018.
