Henry Marvin Driggers, Jr., 73, passed away Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence.
He was born April 15, 1945 in Clarksville, TX. He was a son of the late Henry Marvin, Sr., and Inez Hall Driggers. Henry served in the United States Navy from 1964 until 1968. He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church. Henry retired from the City of Bennettsville Police Department having worked his way from Dispatcher to the Chief of the Police Department. He enjoyed cross stitching, watching westerns, shooting sporting clays, and fishing with his grandson, Fore. He was an honorary member of the Marlboro Rescue Squad and was a volunteer with the MYSOA. He devoted a lot of his time doing genealogy research for his family, local families in the community and Confederate soldiers.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory: wife, Flora Lynn Campbell Driggers of the home; son, Henry Marvin “Hank” Driggers, III & wife Jennifer of Bennettsville; sisters, Martha D. Ward of Darlington, Ava D. Colson & husband Marvin of Bennettsville; grandchildren, Henry Marvin “Fore” Driggers, IV, & Sara Brianna Driggers, both of Bennettsville. He was preceded in death by his parents listed above & infant brother, Sidney Eugene Driggers.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, December 22, 2018 at Burroughs Funeral Home followed by interment in Hebron Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday evening, December 21, 2018 at Burroughs Funeral Home.
