James Milton Hayes passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence. He was 77 years old.
Born April 13, 1942 in Blenheim, SC, he was a son of the late James Delton and Annie Mae Williams Hayes. Milton was a member of Parnassus United Methodist Church in Blenheim. He was an electrician by trade and spent most of his career with the Fluor-Daniel Corporation in Darlington, and later with McCarter Electric in Laurinburg. Milton was kind and good natured. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, cutting grass, and gardening. He enjoyed listening to music, particularly the older country artists, and loved watching his favorite television program, Gun Smoke. He especially enjoyed good food and loved spending time with friends and family. He will be dearly missed.
Milton was predeceased by his parents listed above and his beloved daughter, Amanda “Mandy” Hayes Whistler.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory: wife, Barbara Hayes of the home; son, James “Jamie” Hayes (Heather) of Laurinburg; step-son, Eddie Mumford (Debra) of Murrells Inlet; brothers, Thomas Harold Hayes (Patricia) of Bennettsville, John E Hayes (Sue) of Blenheim; sisters, Clara Jean “Jeannie” Hayes Jackson of Bennettsville, Marie Powell of Blenheim, Linda Clay Leviner of Bennettsville, Helen Kimrey of Bennettsville, Janice Munnerlyn (Jerry) of Blenheim; 7 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at Parnassus United Methodist Church in Blenheim, followed by burial in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. just prior to the service at the church.
