Mr. Woodrow Wilson Stubbs, Jr passed away Thursday, November 21, 2019 at Scotland Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. He was 82 years old.
Mr. Stubbs was born in Bennettsville on July 19, 1937 to the late Woodrow Wilson Stubbs, Sr. and Harriett Frances Brewer Stubbs. He was a member of Bennettsville First Church of the Nazarene. He was a member of the United States Navy. He worked at the Marlboro County Detention Center for 27 years as a LPN. Mr. Stubbs received his Associate Degree from Tennessee State University. He enjoyed fishing and baseball. He served as the President of Dixie Youth Baseball in Goodlettsville, TN from 1964-1984.
Mr. Stubbs leaves behind to cherish his loving memory; wife, Virginia West Stubbs of Bennettsville; sons, Woodrow “Woody” Wilson Stubbs, III and wife Robin of Bennettsville and Patrick West Flaherty and wife Tania of Marrietta, GA.; daughter, Marianne Chavis and husband Bobby of Bennettsville; brother, Milton Stubbs of Victoria, TX.; sister, Tina Sessoms of Bennettsville; grandchildren, Benjamin Stubbs (Callie), Savannah Stubbs, Meyer Flaherty, Ronan Flaherty, Jackie Nichols (Jamie), Kori Rollins, Robert Rollins, Kimberly Matthews, and Amy Matthews; great grandchildren, Cody, Jocelyn, Jamie, Jayden, Zavi, Ally, Lyric, and Kayden.
He was preceded in death by his parents listed above; brother, Eddie Stubbs; sister, Ann Kirby.
A funeral service will be held 3pm Monday, November 25, 2019 at Bennettsville First Church of the Nazarene, officiated by Revs. Brian Howard and Mark Foster, with burial with Military Honors at Sunset Memorial Park. A visitation will be held from 6-8pm Sunday, November 24, 2019 at Bennettsville First Church of the Nazarene.
