Mrs. Genevia English Steen, widow of Mr. John Bryant Steen, passed away May 13, 2020 at her residence after an illness. She was 82 years old.
Mrs. Genevia was born in Marlboro County on September 11, 1937 to the late Carl and Mary Haire English. She was a member of White Creek Freewill Baptist Church. She was a machine operator with Weller Cooper, where she until she retired. Mrs. Genevia enjoyed cooking, gardening, cutting and burning wood, shopping at flea markets, and most of all having Sunday dinners with her family.
She leaves behind to cherish her loving memory; daughter, Sandy Griggs; daughter-in-law, Faye Steen; grandchildren, Brent Steen (Dana), Jason Steen (Chasity), Jeremy Steen (Michele), Jamie Steen (Amy), and Jonathan Griggs; great grandchildren, Dustin, Camryn, Cooper, Savannah, Tegan, Makayla, Brenlynn, Tatum, Aaron, and Madison; great-great grandson, Maverick; sisters, Paulene Quick, Faye Quick (Roy), Carlene Smith, and Ruthie Howington; and brother, Tom English (Margie).
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband listed above; son, Johnny Steen; granddaughter, Jill Griggs;brother, Leroy English.
A graveside service will be held 2pm, Sunday, May 17, 2020 at White Creek Freewill Baptist Church, officiated by Revs. Kevin Hall, JC Linton, and Jerry Wayne Shaw.
